Hey there, this is Pyrophage. You may know from other blogs and nonsense like Drunken Pumpkin but I hope to present something a little more coherent on these pages.
I really like comics. Pretty much any of them. I’ve recently been reading a fair amount of Manga, so we’ll see how that goes. But I’ve been reading these things since before I could read. I like them so much that’s what I wrote my Master’s Creative Project on. If you’re nice I might put that up on the site at some point, but who knows.
I have a BS in Philosophy with an Art History minor and an MA in English Composition in Rhetoric. Currently, I teach Freshman English in the Indiana Correctional Facilities. But I really want to spend more time with comic creators than felons. The time I spend is fairly rewarding, but I would like not to be patted down as I go into work. That creeps me out a little bit.
Over the course of time I plan to post reviews of comics new and old, and I hope to get a chance to expose people to the slightly more off beat titles. You should expect to hear a fair amount about Dave Sim’s Cerebus I have an unnatural affinity for that little Aardvark. (I have two Cerebus tattos and have plans for at least two more.) But I also plan on talking about the more mainstream stuff as well. I’ve got a discussion of a couple Batman story arcs in the queue, so it won’t all be weird indy comics.
Well I think that gives you an idea what to expect. Now all I have to do is get on a schedule and maintain that and we’re all set. I hope to see you back.
